Our First Family Vacation

We took the boys to San Diego at the end of September to see the Zoo, Shamu and the beach! Fortunately, we were able to see all three and have an extra day to ride bikes from Mission Beach to Pacific Beach and around a good portion of Mission Bay. We spent some great time with my cousin Keith and Tarek took to him pretty quickly.

It was a great trip for me and Jenny because for the first time in a long time, I took 7 days off of work and didn't even check my email once. We were able to spend some good quality time together with the boys and eachother and have our "cocktail hour" each night on the patio!
In one of our finer moments as parents (nomination for parents of the year), we were leaving dinner with Keith when Tarek loudly asked from the back seat of our rental, "Hey, where's the jackass?" More to come later regarding our nominations for parents of the year...
Check out some of our pics:
Tarek Loves the beach and the "crazy waves"

16 Year High School Reunion

Even though it took a sad event to get us together, it's nice to know that we all reconnected. Here's a few pics of the ladies and gentlement from Alta High School class of 1991 and 92 since we took in baby Ryan!

These ladies haven't changed one bit: Laresen, Stacy, Joey, Steph and Cynthia

Same ladies and add Baby Ryan, Gilbert and David

Natasha, Larsen and Mandy

It was great to see everyone and if you want copies of the pics, email me!

Missing My Family

Wedding and funerals have a tendency to bring people together. Unfortunately, it is the latter that has brought me to Phoenix to mourn the passing of Vern Tucker who passed away on August 22, 2007. She was a surrogate mother to several of us that are gather here this weekend. We all gathered, Stacy, Dave, Joey, Cynthia, Larsen and me, of course at the Tucker household and we're gathered again to celebrate her life and memory.

As this time takes me away from my own family, it makes me miss them dearly. I love you Jenny, Tarek and Oliver. Be safe and know that I'll be home very soon!

Love Gilbert

Oliver's Firsts

Mom and dad thought you might enjoy some traditional and non-traditional firsts for a baby!

First bottle from my big brother Tarek

First Bath! (Rated PG-13)

My first soccer game with my family-notice that dad is doing his best impression of a Llama

My first Park City Arts Festival

My first Zoo trip and train ride

My first hike ( not too tough as you can see that mommy is pushing me along the boardwalk)

My first nap with Hector the Protector

My first big-boy bath (Rated PG)
My first encounter with Canadian Geese (It's like they've never seen bread before)

We Have Awaken From the Coma

It is amazing what eight hours of sleep will do for your body. It is even more amazing if you take the eight hours where you should be sleeping and break it up into smaller intervals...two hours asleep...one hour awake...one hour asleep...30 minutes awake...3.5 hours asleep. Anyway, that has been our routine for the last several weeks.

The sleep deprivation has settled in and we have purchased a large share of stock in Red Bull Energy Drink!

Oliver has been home for five weeks and is doing great! At his two week appointment, he had returned to his birth weight plus 2 oz. Now he's a hog with a double chin, dimples in his elbows, wrinkles in his thighs and bracelets around his fat little wrists. Mamma cow can hardly keep up!

We Made it Home!

Be sure to visit the My Photo Album link to see more pictures from the hospital and from home!

Mom and dad brought me home on Sunday and they were very excited. Tarek was happy too, although he was sure to let me know that he was the "King" of this domain!

Mom and dad settled into a groove a little something like this: Feed the baby, change the baby, feed the baby...etc.
I think in the first 24 hours at home, I managed to mess up seven different outfits. I even managed to pee on daddy's friend Buddha.

Monday was much better as we were just hanging out at home figuring each other out. Later in the afternoon, I sat outside in my bouncy chair with Mom while Daddy and Tarek went running through the sprinklers...boy was it hot!

Lito and Lita brought some dinner over and they spent some time with us before it was time for bed. I did much better through the night and so did mommy and daddy. They finally remembered how to take care of a tiny guy like me. Mommy said she is settling into the fog...I don't know what that means, but I think she's tired.

Hello World! My name is Oliver Reed Rojas...I finally made it to see everyone, but not as I had anticipated. In fact, it worked out better for me than for mom. You see, I was being squeezed out for about 14 hours, but wasn't really going anywhere. In fact at one point, my heart slowed down so much that I heard a bunch of people saying they were coming to get me, but I felt better and stayed put!

As mom explained it, we arrived at the hospital just after midnight on Tuesday. By 10:00 Wednesday morning, I wasn't going anywhere no matter how much pushing, probing and encouragment was going on. Dr. Quinn suggested that I come out another way and at 2:27 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18th, I joined the world via Caesarian Section! It was no wonder I couldn't get out due to the size of my enourmous head at 36.5 cm. I also outweighed my big brother Tarek by approximately two pounds at birth...he better watch out! I was 21.5 inches long.

I'm getting accustomed to life outside of water and it's not too bad. I have all kind of people fussing over me and my big brother Tarek thinks I'm great. He was really interested in me until he opened the Thomas the Train presents that I had mommy buy for him!

Anyway, here are a few photos of the event and the people around! I'll keep this updated with things that are going on and more pictures. I'll even have dad post a whole album on another site and tell you where to go.

I hope I get to meet many of you very soon! Go Utes!

Want to See How I got here?

Check out these pics that dad took of me! If you have a weak stomach, you may not want to look!
